In the wake of suicide attack on Finance Minister Shaukat Aziz, federal government has issued fresh directions to all the law enforcing agencies of federal as well as provincial governments to adopt proper security arrangements for the protection of important personalities.

Federal Interior Minister Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat told newsmen here on Saturday that suicide attacks are also being reported in different parts of the world and these attacks cannot be stopped hundred percent. However, the government is taking all possible preventive measures to combat these activities. The government has chalked out a policy, to eliminate terrorism in the country.

When asked to give details of initial investigations of attack on Shaukat Aziz he said that it would be very difficult at this stage to pinpoint the elements involved in this incident. However, elements who are bent upon to destabilise the country by targeting prominent personalities in the country are responsible for such acts, he added.

Maintenance of law and order is our top priority and necessary steps have been taken to check terrorist activities, he said and added that Punjab and Sindh governments have been asked to provide security to all candidates who are contesting by-elections against Shaukat Aziz.
